How about sending a hamper? Take a look at all the large department store websites as you’ll probably find one that does it.

How about something really different but real quality British food from a very reputable Devon Supplier. (And NO I do not have any financial interest in this business at all).
The food parcels (Ha !)/hampers from Heal Farm Meats in North Devon are supervised personally by Anne Petch - the owner. Have a look at their web site and you can choose as little or as much as you like to stay within your budget. Menus and recipe suggestions included, so you can select what your mother in law would really find appealing. Even down to suggesting the wines to compliment your ingredient selection.
The web site can be found easily via Google or Yahoo. Enjoy.
