I am ready to start a new restaurant , but i´m not sure in what type. The fast food is well organized and works in production, the personalize is like home-made buffet which is more comlicated and somehow cheaper and less competitive and the gourmet is the refine one which very elaborated and need to fullfill more demands and delicated palads. What type of restaurant would you like and what type of food would you like. Desert, inland food, exotic, pizza, hamburgers, tipic food, mexican, italian, indian, etc. Thanks for your answer

fast food pros/cons: it is hard to get a foot in the door because most people are more familiar and comfortable with the national chain fast food restaurants (mc donalds, carl’s jr, taco bell, etc.) you’d be up against some huge advertising budgets unless you were considering opening a branch of an existing franchise, which requires money up front that you might not have. but as you noted, these places can be set up quickly and very efficiently. finding reliable labor might prove difficult.
gourmet pros/cons: if you live in a wealthy area where there would be plenty of potential customers, this might be your best bet. people with money (actually everybody) like to be pampered when they eat out, and the sky’s the limit as to what you could put on your menu. a beer/liquor license is almost a must here, so check with your local government how to acquire one. just be sure to research your market, and make sure there’s sufficient income in your location to support it: don’t sell prime rib in sagebrush, utah.
buffet pros/cons: people always love to feel they got a good value for their money, and buffets usually provide this. these apppeal to families for obvious reasons (fixed price, all you can eat, lots of mouths to feed) however if you’re in an area with more senior citizens and fewer families, you might not get the volume you hoped for, and wasted food due to spoilage might be a problem.
personally, i like ethnic restaurants: traditional mexican, indian, vietnamese, and greek are some of my faves. i also love a great burger or steak. i’m not a big italian or chicken fan though. desserts? pies of course, and some to go please!
just be sure to do your market research: locate your potential location, traffic counts, competition, and customers. all the research you do now will pay off later. good luck… it can be a very rewarding career!

buffet is cheaper because you have larger prep amounts, less cooking time, easier storage, you can buy in bigger quantities, and people serve themselves. The more elaborate and gourmet you go the more skilled and trained help you will need. More money in salaries.
If you don’t even know what kind of restaurant to open then you don’t have costing on your menu. If you don’t even know how much you need to make a day to break even how can you even begin to imagine that you are ready to start? What does the restaurant look like? where is the kitchen, where is the storage, how is the dinning area laid out? What kind of flatware are you getting? this is just a minuscule amount of questions you need to answer before you even think about arranging funding. look into the SBA
MAYBE DO A MIXTURE MEXICAN AND AMERICAN FOODS, THIS I BELIEVE WOULD BE A GREAT SUCCESS. MOST PEOPLE LOVE BOTH OF THESE TYPES OF FOOD! IT WOULD GIVE COUPLES AND FAMILIES A CHOICE BETWEEN BOTH! HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
