Hi there! In advance, I greatly appreciate any help or feedback that members can offer with my question.
I feed my two cats the “regular” varieties of Fancy Feast wet cat food. In light of the contaminated wheat gluten scare, for the past five months or so, I have been feeding them Fancy Feast varieties that do not contain wheat gluten (for example, Gourmet Seafood Feast and Savory Salmon Feast).
Although my cats are in good health, lately, they seem to have lost their interest in the wet food varieties I’ve been feeding them. (I also feed them Fancy Feast dry kibbles.) When I open a new can, they simply go up to the food and take a few licks. I was wondering if it is safe to feed them Fancy Feast varieties that DO contain wheat gluten (e.g., Flaked Tuna Feast) as a way to recapture their interest in wet food. Is this safe? Has the contaminated wheat gluten scare been contained yet? Again, thanks in advance for your help and advice!

Fancy Feast is made by Purina. None of the Fancy Feast or Purina cat foods was ever affected by the wheat gluten contamination. Only one Purina product for dogs was affected and pulled off the shelves. My cats have been eating many of the Fancy Feast varieties for 5 months or more with no problems; wheat gluten ones as well.
But stay around these forums and you’ll learn that this is not the best canned food to feed them. Some of the Fancy Feast are OK, others not so good.
Yes, it is now safe to.
Be sure though you buy food from large pet outlet, where all the tainted foods were for sure sent back/destroyed.
