Most of us should know by now about the lack of Fresh Gourmet Food Markets within Detroit City Limits.
In order to get around this problem, what store do you shop at for the freshest food, best service and cheap prices?
You can list a suburban one if you please.

Good question I have lived on the west and the east side as well as the suburbs, I live on the west side now and there really inst one good place to get your groceries in the city, if you want good fruit and meat you can go to the West Born Market and pay the high prices or go the closest Mejier and get old or under riped fruit. Since Farmer Jack , Kroger, and even the horrible Glory Supermarkets have left there hasn’t been a good place to shop. But I say this when those stores were open there was poor service and you could never get out of the store in a timely manner so I would only go to the store if I had to. If want people to spend money in your store make them feel welcome.
I prefer to do all of my shopping in the Eastern Market, Its wonderful.
Plum Market is great, but no Detroit locations. Suburbs only. Same for Joe Randazzo’s. Whole Food is good also. None of those listed in this answer are cheap, but not over priced. You get what you pay for.
Costco, i think if they were to put a Costco or Sam’s club in Detroit, that would be a great idea, considering i don’t really know of any other stores that sell groceries in Michigan that are all that great anymore, i don’t care for Kroger much, or farmer jacks, which all of them seem to be closing anyways, but if they could bring piggly wiggly up north, now that’s a grocery store.
i like Meijer’s for most of my groceries. If i want to have a nice meal for a date, i usually go to Randazo’s or Trader Joe’s.
I like meijer for everything besides meat and veggies. I go to Nino Salvaggio for my meat and veggies, everything there is so fresh, its a little bit on the more expensive side, but good nutrition is important to me!
I actually think Whole Foods bu far has the best meats and fish. They are pricey, but worth it.
I like Whole Foods and Hiller’s in Ann Arbor. All of the major grocers have abandoned Detroit. Kroger and Farmer Jack pretty much suck anyways. Meijer’s is good, but they don’t have a presence in Detroit either.
