What Is The Difference Between Gourmet Foods And Home Cooked Foods?

Home cooking is simple everyday meals well prepared and nourishing. Nothing beats a good chicken stew. Gourmet employs sophisticated cooking methods and sometimes rare and expensive ingredients. Plating of the food is done in a very attractive manner, “you eat first with your eyes”. I love to prepare gourmet meals when I have the extra money. My ingredients will usually exceed $125.00

gourmet food is much richer, lots of cream sauces and lots of butter.

Well without going to google and looking this up. I’ll say that number one, Home cooking tends to be more rustic as in the vegatables and meat isnt cut all the same and the cuts tend to be larger. The plating for home cooking is what is considered to be “family style” which is just a big plate or pan with the food in it.
Gourmet tends to have everything cut up perfectly. The plating is extravagant. The food choosen in gourmet recipes happens to be much more expensive. If you wanna find some of these ingredients try looking up things such as Kobe Beef, Fois Gras, Truffles.

The real difference just boils down to price. Gourmet food can be defined as fine foods prepared in various food venues, especially high priced ones. I personally like home cooked meals better!
