What Other Stores Like Whole Foods Are There In The Dallas Area?

I like the concept of prepared gourmet foods. Looking for a store closer to Irving however.

Central Market IMO is much better than the prepared foods at Whole Foods. While not close to Irving per se, there is one in Dallas at Central and Lovers Ln. Also in Southlake and in Plano, or in Fort Worth.
Closer to Irving for great prepared foods will be Eatzi’s. They are wonderful for prepared foods. They are still not in Irving, but closer to it. They are in the Oak Lawn area one block off of Lemmon Ave. I highly recommend both of them. DEFINITELY try the King Ranch chicken casserole at Eatzi’s….mmmmmm.
Market Street is another specialty grocer with prepared foods…not sure if there is one in your area, but you might look them up since they are aggresively opening new stores in the area. (think there are 10 or so slated to open this year) While they do not have quite the variety, they still have some great prepared meals.
You might look into some places like Super Suppers, At Home Dinners, etc. where you prepare several dinners on your own (they do the prep work, you put it together) and you can freeze or refrigerate them. You simply reheat or thaw them for a very decent meal at home.
Suprisingly Costco and Sam’s will have many smaller heat and eat items for you as well, they are in the refrigerated section near the refrigerated meats, they generally are portions for 2. Another thing to think about, particularly if you have a vaccuum sealer or one of the new ziplock things that functions as a vaccuum sealer, purchase frozen items at Costco or Sam’s. Let’s take Lasagne, for instance. Take the frozen item out of the pan by inverting it, (keep the pan for future use, they come in handy sometimes), then cut it with an electric serrated knife into much smaller portions. Use the portion you need for the evening, freeze (or refrigerate) the rest in the smaller portions for future use. This is SO much cheaper in the long run. I did this when starting out and in college. While my friends were eating ramen noodles, I was eating very decent meals in the same amount of time.
ETA: Don’t know why I checked, but I read through one or two of your prevous answers: I am formerly from AR as well. And definitely in agreement with you.

The Cupboard in Denton is awesome! It’s a little store with just about everything natural. They even have a deli that serves breakfast lunch and dinner and it’s all using whole foods.

Brooke is correct. The only one I would add would be “Sprouts”. I believe it’s a chain, but the only one I know of is at 1709 (southlake blvd) and Randoll Mill.
